Global Citizen Invites Canada SCORES Executive Director to Participate in “No Child on the Sidelines” Broadcast Event.

Burnaby, July 16, 2026 – Earlier today, just days ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Final that will be contested between Spain & Argentina, Global Citizen hosted a special live stream event to promote the No Child on the Sidelines campaign and share stories about the impact of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

Canada SCORES was honoured to be included in the event today, as 1 of 27 organizations worldwide that received initial grants in the first cohort earlier in May.

Our National Executive Director Nick Taylor (He/Him) had the opportunity to share some insights into how The SCORES Network curriculum that includes soccer and poetry, helps create a sense of belonging and build confidence amongst the Poet-Athletes that participate in our fully funded after school programs.

The segment wrapped up with an acknowledgement of the generosity and alignment of values with Quaker & Common Goal, who provided the opportunity for nearly 300 children from our after school programs to serve as Quaker Player Escorts at all thirteen World Cup matches held in Canada.
