Canada SCORES Bids Farewell to Long Serving Executive Director

After 11 incredible years leading Canada SCORES Vancouver, we are saying a heartfelt farewell to our Executive Director, Kevin Yang.

Please join us in celebrating Kevin and all that we’ve achieved together during his remarkable tenure.

Moving forward, our Founding Executive Director of Canada SCORES Toronto - Nick Taylor - will be taking over as Interim Executive Director for Canada SCORES Vancouver.

Kevin’s journey with Canada SCORES began in December 2013 as a volunteer on our development board. He visited the Canada SCORES Vancouver's Poet-Athletes on the very first day of programming in January 2014 and was immediately captivated by the program and started to volunteer as a soccer coach. His passion and commitment quickly deepened, leading him to organize our very first SCORES Cup corporate charity soccer tournament.

Under his leadership, Canada SCORES Vancouver has grown in impact and stayed true to its mission of inspiring youth through soccer, poetry, and community service.

Kevin grew the number of Poet-Athletes from 45 to over 400, and expanded our programs from 3 to 24. He navigated the challenges of the pandemic with creativity, being one of the first organizations to offer virtual programming. Kevin was recognized as the 2021 MLS WORKS Community MVP by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and he played a key role in supporting the expansion of Canada SCORES to Toronto in 2024.

Kevin has always led with heart. His impact will leave a lasting legacy on both our organization and the Poet-Athletes we serve.

We are incredibly grateful for his passion, dedication and leadership, and we wish him all the best in his next chapter.

All the best,

Jon Lutz, Board Chair, Canada SCORES

Nick Taylor, Executive Director, Canada SCORES Toronto/Vancouver
