Jon Lutz - Board Chair & Secretary

 

Jon joined Electronic Arts Europe in 1998, the perfect fit for him as a videogame-enthusiast. Since then, he has been in various roles spanning the publishing, online, studio and corporate divisions. During his career at Electronic Arts, Jon has been based in London UK, Redwood Shores CA, Los Angeles CA and most recently Vancouver, BC. Since moving to Vancouver in 2006, Jon has held roles as VP, CFO, EA Canada; VP, CFO, EA SPORTS; VP, CFO, EA Labels Worldwide; and most recently assumed the role as VP, Financial Planning & Strategy for Electronic Arts Inc.

 

Daniel Gumprich - Vice Chair

VP, Corporate Development, Solus Trust

 

Daniel has over 20 years of leadership experience in professional services, public company, and public sector environments. Daniel is currently a Strategic Consultant at Healthcare Benefit Trust which provides group health and welfare benefits on behalf of participating employers for nearly 100,000 individuals employed in health care and social services in British Columbia and the Yukon. Prior to joining HBT, Daniel spent 8 years as Chief Financial Officer at Sterling Shoes, a Vancouver-based footwear retailer with over 160 stores across Canada. Previous to Sterling, Daniel spent 11 years at PwC in their corporate finance, transaction services, audit and advisory practices.

 

Garry Eng - Treasurer

Partner, PwC

 

Garry was raised in East Vancouver by immigrant parents who were guided by their vision of hard work and dedication to providing opportunities for their children. He is a father of two children who both love to play soccer and Garry has been fortunate to be able to volunteer his time to coach both children and their teammates. His wife, Tonia, is an elementary school teacher who has a passion for working with children and she has had a great deal of experience with children and families that are similar to the beneficiaries of the Canada SCORES program.

 

Elizabeth Calderon - Director

Director of Admissions, Marketing & Communications, Mulgrave School

 

Elizabeth was born in Mexico, grew up in California, and now lives in West Vancouver with her husband Jesse and two children. She earned a BA in French Literature from the University of California, San Diego and a BEd and MEd from National University. Before moving to Canada, she spent 10 years as a primary school teacher. Now as a member of Mulgrave's Business Leadership Team, Elizabeth combines her deep knowledge of education with a keen business sense to align the school's goals with its mission. A life-long poetry lover and soccer player, Elizabeth felt an instant connection to Canada Scores and its work to provide support and inspire underserved youth to be engaged in their learning and develop a strong sense of self.

 

Mary Fraser - Director

Community Leader

 

With a life-long passion for sport, Mary’s career has enabled her to play a leadership role in providing strategic communications support to high-performance athletes, National Olympic Committees and International Sport Federations in the lead up and during both Summer and Winter Olympic Games from 1998 through to 2010, with an emphasis on pro-active media strategies, spokesperson training and issues management. She was the International Media Relations Director for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Organizing Committee (VANOC), and since then has held leadership roles in a variety of sectors including not-for-profit, sport and retail, including lululemon athletica. Most recently, Mary served as the Deputy General Manager and Vice President, Corporate Communications, for H+K Strategies. Mary lives in Vancouver with her husband Mike, who is the head coach of the UBC Men's Soccer Program, and their three daughters.

 

Andrew Hung - Director

Regional Vice President, BMO Bank of Montreal

 

Andrew is currently a Regional Vice President - Personal at Bank of Montreal and was born and bred in BC. In 2003, Andrew joined BMO and moved progressively into senior roles such as Corporate Finance where he was a Managing Director and more recently VP Commercial Banking. Andrew has an undergraduate in Commerce and an MBA from Dalhousie University. Andrew is equally passionate about being in the community and has held a number of board positions for charities and associations. In his spare time, Andrew spends his time coaching soccer for his son Ethan and enjoys traveling with his wife.  

 

John Mast - Director

VP, Marketing, Expedia CruiseShipCenters

 

John Mast is Vice President of Marketing at Expedia CruiseShipCenters, a leading retail travel franchisor with over 175 locations and 4,000 travel agents across Canada and the United States. Responsible for brand and marketing strategy, he and his team execute the advertising and public relations programs that drive consumer cruise and vacation sales, travel agent recruitment and franchise sales. When he's not in the office, John enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling and enjoying the great outdoors in and around the Pacific Northwest.

 

Matt was born in Hong Kong before moving to Canada at an early age. He grew up playing sports with his older brother and friends. Matt played sports for his high school teams which included basketball, volleyball, tennis, and badminton. He won a Provincial Championship in badminton (yes, it's a real sport) in 2001, and that happens to be the only highlight in his athletic career. Matt then went on to coach youth sports and work with youth-at-risk for the City of Coquitlam Parks and Recreation for 10 years.

Jim Richards - Director

Jim Richards grew up in Calgary, Alberta and graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. While teaching didn’t play a significant role in Jim’s professional life, the skills acquired remained present throughout his career. Soccer enjoys a significant station in Jim’s life, as both his sons are passionate players and fans, which lead to his own role as a volunteer coach (until his son’s skills surpassed his capacities). Relegated to the grandstands, he happily spends his weekends watching the games and disappearing for a bike ride whenever possible.

Peter Green - Director

Community Leader

 

Peter Green was President, TELUS National Small and Medium Business, responsible for the end to end client experience for all small and medium business customers. As a senior executive nationally and internationally, he has always felt that a company should be a good corporate citizen first. This passion for community giving is demonstrated in his past membership of the Caldwell Foundation in the UK and past board membership of the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. He is currently chairman of the board for the Dr. Peter Aids Foundation.
